A tender burpless variety first grown in Israel is Cucumber Beit Alpha. Cucumber beit alpha produces Gynoecious plants and are rather forgiving than other cucumber varieties. The mildly flavoured seedless fruit has very thin skin and doesn’t need to be peeled. They can either be consumed raw or pickled. Cucumber beit alpha also has a good shelf life. Pick fruits once they are 4 to 6 inches long for best flavours. The small-spined, crispy sweet cucumber fruits can be used as a slicer or pickling variety.
Planting instructions
Sow cucumber beit alpha seeds at a depth of ½ inches after the last frost of spring. Plant seeds in a site that receives 5-7 hours of sunlight every day. Seedlings will appear in 7 to 10 days in ideal growing conditions. Thin to the healthiest seedlings after germination. Provide added support when growing cucumber vertically.
