Microgreens are the young seedlings of edible plants. They can normally grow 2 inches tall in 7-10 days! These tiny, delicate and young microgreen leaves are used as an essential ingredient in salads. They can also be used as a taste enhancer in dips, sandwiches, soups, steaks and pizzas.
Apart from being extremely nutritious and easy to grow in a kitchen garden, they pack a punch of unique flavor within them. They provide texture to your otherwise mundane food. Microgreens also serve as an exceptional visual delight because of their popping color and bright appearance.
Microgreens pack a mega punch of nutrition. Micro stage of a plant has proven to be upto 40% more nutritious than the leaves of the same plant at maturity. Their crispy texture makes them unmatched for many recipes.
Microgreens are packed higher in nutrients like Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin K. Lutein and beta-carotene can be found in abundant proportions in Microgreens. Even more than carrots!
Microgreens are a super food that grows fast and provides you with a burst of health and beauty!
Microgreens are an answer to the urban planter’s inaccessibility to proper farming methods. One can grow them using urban appliances, with soil or as hydroponics (only with growing medium, water and nutrients). They are very easy to grow and you can grow them in a pot or a kit already available at your home or office.
Plant growers who are new to the concept of growing microgreens often find themselves confused about which vegetable or plant can be grown as a microgreen. There are many types of plants that you can grow as Microgreens: pea shoots, pak choi, purple cabbage, mustard leaves, purple and
pink radish, basil, corn shoots, amaranth, swiss chard, cilantro, broccoli, beet, sunflower, wheatgrass, brussel sprouts, onions and more. Most of these are available at All That Grows!

Apart from being super healthy and nutritious, microgreens are also famous for being low maintenance and easy to grow. All you need is the seed, light, a container, soil and water.
For outdoor kitchen gardens, the process is pretty much similar to a normal plant. Avoid watering them too much and use a spray bottle to make the soil damp after planting the seed. If you are growing the seeds indoors, make sure they get at least four hours of sunlight in a day. Always use organic potting mix.
Once grown they can be stored at 38-40℉ degrees in a closed air tight container. They can survive for 5-8 days in a refrigerator.
