Variegated & crimson coloured leaves and stems of bull’s blood microgreens put on a splendid display on different plates. Bull’s blood microgreens were one of the first few varieties grown in the early 1980s their vibrant taste and nutty and earthy flavour. High levels of Vitamins A, B, C, E, and K along with minerals like zinc, iron, potassium and antioxidants makes bull’s blood microgreens ideal for a healthy kitchen. The flavour of bull’s blood beet microgreens is somewhat similar to that of spinach microgreens. Add a handful of these microgreen leaves with their stems on top of pizza, pasta or soup for an added beet-like flavour.
Planting instructions
For sowing microgreen seeds, first, choose a container that is around 4-5 inches deep. A flat tray or a pot is suitable.
Fill it with potting soil and spread seeds on the surface, covering them with a thin layer of soil.
Allow the plant to germinate for 4-5 days in a dark and moist environment. The ideal temperature for germination should range between 18-24 ℃(65-75 ℉)
Growing Requirements
soil
Fresh seed starter mix is available at any nursery for buying. Handpicked garden soil would also solve the purpose.
spot
A bright sunlit window or a spot that receives 5-6 hours of sunlight is good enough for the microgreen to develop. Sesame microgreens prefer full sun and will thrive in a sunny spot.
watering
Gently water twice or thrice a day to keep your microgreens thriving.
how to harvest
Bull’s blood beet microgreens will start germinating in 4-7 days and you can harvest the microgreens in around 14 to 20 days. You can start harvesting the microgreens after ten days as per requirement.
Take a pair of sharp scissors or a knife and cut the shoots from above the soil, without touching the roots. Sesame microgreens have a mild and subtle flavour and will go great with many Oriental cuisines.
